Generating revenue with integrity
One of journalism’s clearest and most unanimous ethical needs has been to protect the integrity of our content from being tainted by our need to generate revenue. To protect journalistic integrity, news organizations developed organizational silos dividing newsrooms from advertising staffs, with little or no contact between colleagues in those departments.
- Liveblogging: Telling stories as they happen Newspapers originally responded to the opportunities of the web by posting print stories online after they appeared in print. Then we recognized the need to post news immediately to the web and started posting newspaper-like stories to the web quickly after an event occurred. Liveblogging is a story form for digital platforms, a blend of the styles and techniques of traditional newspaper-style reporting, radio play-by-play and the interactivity of blogging.

- Ethics in social networks
Social networks are a rapidly growing part of society and communication and journalists and news organizations need to connect with them as we gather content and build audience for our products. We also need to keep ethics in mind as we operate in this swiftly changing world.
- Ethics in the blogosphere

You need to decide what goes and what doesn’t for your site and your staff. Whether you are a manager or a staff member, you need to consider the issues discussed here. Managers need to consider situations and make clear their expectations. Staff members need to consider what they want to do and what they should be doing and discuss possible ethical implications with their editors.
