Course Outline - Recipe for success for newsroom technology training
(pdf)
Whether you are creating a newsroom technology training program,
a class or a handout, this tip sheet will help get you organized
and focused. Learn what a "teach back" is and how it can help
jazz up each session. There is also a suggestion for using teach
backs as an effective training evaluation tool. Finally, since
many technology training programs are run by one person - you!
- there are even a few pointers for keeping yourself current and
sane.

- 50
Car ideas for your beat
For
years, the annual IRE/NICAR conference has held a session that
features the top "50" ideas for using technology at the beat level
(as opposed to project level). I like this list from 1994 in particular
because the ideas are timeless. Note: Some editing and emphasis
has been added to the original.

- Editor's
Guide to Working with Nerds
When a reporter turns in a story based in whole or in part on
the use of technology, a line editor should routinely ask these
questions. Use this "Editor's Guide to Working with Nerds" as
a conversation starter.
